Learn the fundamentals of animation with this fun, hands-on activity that campers get to keep and play with!

Module 2: Parade

Everybody loves a parade! This is how we test out our hardware and software set-up to get an idea of how stop motion works.

Module 3: Story

The story is the most important part of any movie. We take campers through the elements of storytelling and support them with a workbook to guide them through this exercise.

Module 4: Setting

The setting plays a huge role in any story. We show campers how to assemble a stellar set to compliment their story.

Module 5: Characters

Characters in stop motion animations can be made from clay, plastic bricks, paper cut-outs, string, salt shakers… campers are only limited by their imagination!

Module 6: Script

Writing a script ensures the story makes sense and captures all of the elements outlined earlier.

Module 7: Filming

Now comes the fun part: Filming! All of the work done thus far will start to come together into a movie as we snap the frames of our movie.

Module 8: Advanced Filming Techniques

As we continue to film, we talk about advanced filming techniques that lend a professional flair to movies.

Module 9: Edit & Sound

We enter the post-production phase by learning how to work with the images campers have captured and unify the story with sound.

Module 10: Wrap-up

After all of the finishing touches are complete, then, as we say in the movie biz, “It’s a wrap!”
